About Us

We are proud to be a house of brands and believe that each of our products should have its own story to tell and its own space to tell it. Our ethos is to be inventive in our thinking, to look at history for inspiration and to produce a range of award winning spirits that have local provenance and an international appeal.

Lost Loch Spirits was founded by Peter Dignan and Richard Pierce in 2017. With a passion for history as well as distilling, Pete and Rich are proud to be a part of a legal, modern-day resurgence of craft distilling on Royal Deeside.

The Lost Loch Spirits distillery is nestled between forest and farmland on the edge of the Cairngorm National Park.  The distillery is fitted with a modern 500 litre iStill, which can produce up to 500 bottles per day.  The distillery is also fitted with three traditional copper alembic stills used for recipe development and the production of absinthe. With the current setup we are capable of outputting 80,000 bottles per year.

The distillery is self-sufficient with distilling, bottling and packaging taking place on site. A percentage of the power and heat utilised comes from renewable sources as the site is fitted with a wind turbine, solar panel array and a biomass boiler.

The distillery is located on what would have been eastern shore of Loch Auchlossan.  The Loch was unsuccessfully drained at various intervals during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. In 1944 the Loch was drained to assist with the war effort.  This was successful and Loch Auchlossan has now been lost to time.

Lost Loch Spirits is still open for business but for online orders only.

We'd like to thank all of our customers for their continued support during this uncertain time. Each order makes a huge difference and will help our wee business survive, which means we'll still be here to produce your favourite spirits once this is all over. For now, though we need to close the distillery doors, which sadly means, no visitors, tour & tastings or spirits school experiences can run. If you have something booked with us, we'll be in touch.
Otherwise, we can't wait to see you once this is all over - thank you for your continued support.

In the meantime - follow us on social & stay in touch.

Love, Team Lost Loch
